How Does DietPlan Work

Q: What if a food or drink I eat is not in the DietPlan database?
A: Such foods can be entered into the DietPlan database using the nutritional information on the food's packaging of label. If no nutritional information is available you may be able to obtain it from the manufacturer.

Q: Can you add your own foods to DietPlan?
A: Yes, you can use the nutritional information from the food's packaging to enter that food's details into the DietPlan database. If no nutritional information is available you may be able to obtain it from the manufacturer.

What other information do I need to have about the food I eat?
You do not need to enter any additional information apart from the food's nutritional information printed on its packaging; however weighing your food provides an extremely accurate way of determining what you eat and drink. It can, however, be time consuming. DietPlan already has a descriptive measure of the food and drink that you are likely to ingest at a given time. This is not as accurate, but gives a good average result that will determine the trend your lifestyle is heading in.

Q:How do I enter the nutritional composition of my favourite recipes?
A: You are able to select your recipe's ingredients from the DietPlan database (e.g. flour, sugar, eggs etc). Ingredients that are not in the DietPlan database can be added using the nutritional information on the label of packaging. Once this data has been entered it can saved as a recipe for easy future access.

Q: I have a unique medical condition. How can DietPlan be customised for my needs?
A: You can increase or decrease you recommended daily intake (RDI) to take account of your medical condition. Please consult a health professional if you are unsure about the required modifications.

Q: I have a unique metabolism (e.g. hyperactivity, somnolence). Can DietPlan allow for this?
A: DietPlan's basal metabolism is generated according to age group. DietPlan does not allow for individual metabolic rates. You can however modify your RDI to accommodate the need for a higher or lower nutrient intake (e.g. if you are an elite athlete or under heavy stress).
